Rafael Salaberry, PhD
Dr. Salaberry is Associate Chair and Director of the language program at the Univeristy of Texas, Austin, where he oversees the design of curricula and implementation of all language courses comprising first to third year Spanish and Portuguese, serving approximately 7,000 students per year. As a professor of Spanish linguistics and second language acquisition, Dr. Salaberry has been published in numerous journals, including three books published by John Benjamins, and has authored an upcoming book to be published by Continuum Press. His teaching on social and political implications of bilingual education in the US will be covered by works published by Multilingual Matters (2009). Currently, Rafael serves on the Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed journal Language@Internet.

A native of Uruguay, Dr. Salaberry earned his PhD in Romance Linguistics with a minor in Cognitive Studies from Cornell University in 1997. He has held various faculty appointments at University of Minnesota, Pennsylvania State University and Rice University.

Bill Morrow
Bill currently serves as Chairman and CEO of CSIdentity and Fusion Mobile. Previously, Bill was founder and CEO of Grande Communications. As the presiding officer of the State of Texas' Emerging Technology Advisory Committee, Morrow leads a team of 17 members that recommend eligible proposals for funding under the state's $200 million Emerging Technology Fund.

He continues his responsibilities as a member of Grande's executive board. Morrow was co-founder and director of ClearSource Communications and CEO of Knology Communications. Bill currently serves as Vice Chair of the Communications Committee at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Austin Economic Development Corporation.

Jose Lozano
Jose currently serves as Vice-Chairman and Executive VP of ImpreMedia, LLC. As the largest Hispanic news and information company in the United States, ImpreMedia reaches 17 markets representing 66% of the U.S. Hispanic population. Jose served as CEO and Publisher of La Opinión from 1986 until 2004, was instrumental in founding ImpreMedia, and now serves on several boards including the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) and the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communications.

John Canny, PhD
Dr. Canny currently head up the "Graphics and Human Computer Interface" research group at the University of California, Berkeley. During his tenure at UC Berkeley, John has authored several publications on context-aware systems, perceptual interfaces (computer vision and speech), visualization and learning technologies. Dr. Canny was recently awarded a prestigious McArthur Foundation grant for his work on the MILLEE (Mobile and Immersive Learning for Literacy in Emerging Economies), which provides English-language learning services via mobile phone to underprivileged children in rural India.

Levi Shapiro
Mr. Shapiro is a wireless analyst and journalist, specializing in mobile media marketing and consumption. During a 15 -year career in media and technology, he has helped launch new business units (IBM), innovative services (Toyota) and launch entirely new companies (Two Minute Television, Snack Mobile, Double Agent, Edioma, ARA). As Senior Director of Audience Metrics at Telephia, Mr. Shapiro developed products and partnerships with Hollywood movie studios, broadcast and cable TV networks, game and internet publishers, record labels, wireless carriers, brands and advertising agencies. Previously, Mr. Shapiro founded two start-ups, Two Minute Television and Snack Mobile. Two Minute Television created short-form, ad-supported, episodic TV series with each episode averaging 4 million viewers. In addition to original content, this included a library of licensed programming that appeared on broadcast, cable, internet, mobile, p2p, IPTV and other digital platforms. Snack Mobile developed proprietary software for video content owners to transfer their content to mobile. Currently, Mr. Shapiro serves on the Advisory Board of three digital media companies and a non-profit Research Center affiliated with USC. Mr. Shapiro serves on the Executive Committee of two education-focused charities, is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and a monthly Contributor to industry publications RCR Wireless News, Video Age and Fierce Wireless. He holds degrees from Tulane (BA), Cornell (Asian Studies) and MIT (MBA).

Sara Patuel
Sara Patuel brings to edioma unparalleled experience in cross-border business development between the US and key Latin American markets. As head of the University of Texas TechBA business accelerator, Sara drives initiatives which pair the university's IC2 Institute with top-tier Mexican technology companies in a variety of industries including digital media, telecom, software, etc. The TechBA program, now touting over 30 companies, is sponsored by the Secretary of Economy of Mexico through a non-profit foundation (FUMEC). Previously, Sara occupied a senior level business development role for Fortune 50 telecom giant, MCI, where she led Hispanic partner programs and was responsible for launching multi-state programs accounting over four billion dollars in gross revenue.

Patuel graduated from St. Edwards University with a BA in Spanish International Business/Marketing. She is a frequent guest speaker on international business development, specializing in reducing cultural barriers and supporting IT entrepreneurial efforts in both Mexico and the USA. Sara spends her time outside the boardroom scuba diving with sharks.

Scott Helbing
Scott Helbing is the EVP for Entertainment Services at AT&T. As such, Mr. Helbing built an organization which delivered over a billion dollars in revenue within three years. Prior to AT&T, Scott served as Chief Advertising Office at Pizza Hut/Pepsico, VP of Integrated Marketing at Reebok, and VP of Global Brand Strategy at Dell Computer. Under Mr. Helbing's management, Dell became the number one most respected brand in 2001 (ahead of Apple, Sony, Nike, and Coke) as reported by Interbrand. Scott holds a BS in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder, serves in various community service organizations, and is a fitness enthusiast.

C. Enrique Ortiz
C. Enrique Ortiz is a mobile technologist, developer, writer and evangelist who spends quite a bit of time thinking about mobile futures. Enrique is very active in the Austin mobile-technology scene: he serves as founder of the Austin chapter of MobileMonday and Android Dev Austin, is an advisor on mobile to SXSW Interactive, and an Austin Technology Incubator alumnus. As author of the About Mobility weblog, Enrique's research focuses on the intersections between context-based mobile computing, augmented real-time interactions, and consumer/business software. Enrique currently serves as Product Manager for Mobility at Motive, which now is part of Alcatel-Lucent.

Russell Husband
Russell Husband brings a wealth of retail program development experience to edioma, having enjoyed a 40-year career with the John Lewis Partnership, one of the UK’s leading department store and supermarket retailers. During Russell's tenure as a "turn-around specialist" at John Lewis Partnership, he managed several company locations throughout the UK, then moved on to head up JLP’s Research and Development department, spearheading the firm's early entry into online retail technologies. Subsequently, as Assistant General Inspector, Mr. Husband was responsible for all aspects of JLP's business continuity planning, his expertise being recognized with several industry awards culminating with UK Business Continuity Manager of the Year. Russell lives with his wife in Worcestershire, England.
