Larry Upton - Founder & President
Larry Upton founded edioma after having spent the last fifteen years in international business development for a variety of information technology start-ups. Under Larry's direction, edioma has raised over $2MM in early-stage funding and closed strategic partnership agreements with AT&T/Apple, Sprint, Lexicon Marketing, and 7-Eleven. Mr. Upton is a frequent speaker at mobile industry events including the Mobile Marketing Forum, Ad:Tech, and CTIA and has published multiple articles on Hispanic mobile marketing. Larry holds a BS, Business Management from Millsaps College and a CEE from the Sorbonne, Paris, France.
Craig Negoescu - Co-Founder, CAO
Craig co-founded edioma after accumulating over 20 plus years of audio-visual media design experience. In 1994, Craig joined the creative team that would eventually form the digital media division of frog design. At frog design, Craig advanced the science of embedded sound design with his development of brand and product sound for MacOS 9, Disney, Motorola, Vodafone, and Cingular Wireless. Craig's work has earned many awards, including a Clio, Communications Arts Gold, several IDSA awards, and over a dozen Gold and Silver New Media Awards. His expertise has been recognized in the Boston Globe, ID magazine, Microsoft.com, Electronic Musician and New Media Magazine.
J. Michael Bruff - CFO
Mike Bruff brings 20 years of financial and accounting experience, primarily in hardware & software technology and telecommunications industries. In his current capacity as Finance Director at Dell, Inc., Mr. Bruff has worldwide financial responsibility for the $6B Global Business Sales organization. Prior to this, Mike held various finance executive positions, including Director of Financial Planning for Dell's $16B Large Enterprise business unit, Director and Controller of Dell's Americas Channel business and Vice President of Finance and Accounting for CA, Inc.'s Worldwide Technology Services business. Mr. Bruff also spent three years with MCI in Washington DC serving as business analyst for the Consumer Markets unit. Mike began his career at Deloitte & Touche after earning his Economics and Accounting degrees from the University of Maryland.
Daniel Kim - CTO
Daniel Edward Kim ("Dan") serves as Chief Technology Officer for edioma. In addition to his duties at edioma, Danel is a Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Steinwasser Consulting, a US/Germany technology and business consulting firm serving global telco brands (e.g., Vodafone). Prior to Steinwasser, Dan co-founded NSN Research and Development, Inc., an interface and usability research firm and acted as Chief Technologist for The AML Group and Infoglide Software, both customer care, data mining, and analytics service providers. Daniel serves on the board of directors for Fisoc and is CEO for MindQuilt, Inc., an Austin, TX based social Q&A start-up.
Sylvia Acevedo – VP Content
Sylvia directs all edioma's content creation and curation processes, having spent over twenty-two years in content design and management on behalf of Dell, IBM, and Apple. Sylvia holds demonstrable expertise in bilingual content creation, and manages a successful printed language-instruction service provider called CommuniCard, LLC. Sylvia was named "Hispanic Businesswoman of the Year for 2004" by the US Hispanic Business Chamber of Commerce. A native Spanish speaker, Sylvia holds engineering degrees from Stanford University (Master's) and New Mexico State (Bachelor's) where she graduated with Honors and served on the Board of Regents.
Jay Valanju - VP of Operations
As VP of Operations, Jay Valanju brings to edioma a wealth of experience in telecommunications, financial services, and social media. Along with Daniel Kim, Jay is a Partner at Steinwasser, Inc., a technology and business consulting firm with offices in Texas and Germany. Jay was previously co-founder of Fusion Mobile, a wireless Mobile Virtual Network Operator which targeted the US Hispanic subscriber market. At Fusion, Jay helped raise over $6MM in financing and managed the rollout through three retailers with operations in over a dozen states. Prior to Fusion, Jay managed Business Development at Pluck Corporation, a social media company later purchased by Demand Media. In his first role after business school, Jay was a Co-Founder of FundsXpress, an Internet Banking and financial services company later acquired by First Data Corporation.
Jay has a B.A. in Physics from The University of California at Berkeley. He holds an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin where he focused on Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization.
